Bun Bread

This is a great bread to make at Christmas time. We make it all year because it is my husbands favorite treat. It smells really good while it is baking in the oven. I use my sweet dinner roll recipe for the dough. (You can find it on this site under rolls)
Make dough and roll it out into a rectangle. I either make one large loaf or two smaller ones with this dough recipe. Spread melted butter over the rectangle. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and sugar. You can also add raisins. Roll up dough like you would if you were making cinnamon rolls. Cut 1 inch slits through the first layer of dough. Twist the cut slits over so the cinnamon/sugar side is now showing on the outside.

Bake at 350 for 28-30 minutes. Cover with foil after the first 10-12 minutes. Let bread cool and then drizzle glaze over the top.

Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
add milk a little at a time to make a thicker glaze

You can also roll the dough into a rectangle about 30"X8". Follow the directions above. After rolling the dough shape it into a circle and then cut the 1" slits. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 25-30 minutes. Start checking after 20 minutes. You don't want to over bake it. Cover with foil after the first 15 minutes.

This is delicious! Much easier than making cinnamon rolls...which was a very good thing since it didn't even last a day.
